South Auckland’s LOPZ & DA RASTAZ are bringing their roots reggae sound into the city, live at Dead Witch on Wednesday 29 October. Founded by Lopz Lavulo, who was born in Australia and raised in South Auckland, the 9-piece band blends conscious rhythm, family strength, and lived experience. Lopz’s musical journey began in jail, when a chaplain handed him a guitar and predicted his future as a musician. Eleven years out, he now leads one of Aotearoa’s most uplifting reggae collectives.


Originally performing solo as LOPZ, he expanded the group last year into LOPZ & DA RASTAZ, featuring original Herbs guitarist Spencer Fusimalohi and a lineup that’s been touring the country all winter, sharing music and love through trialling times. Their sound is raw, redemptive, and rooted in community. Music available on all platforms.
