The City Rail Link opens this Sunday, bringing Te Waihorotiu Station just minutes from Ding Dong Lounge
The City Rail Link opens to passengers this Sunday, 13 September, bringing a major new connection into Auckland city centre.
For Ding Dong Lounge, the biggest difference is simple: Te Waihorotiu Station is just a 3-minute walk from our front door at 26 Wyndham Street.
The new rail network will make it easier for people across Auckland to get into the city centre, with more frequent services and better connections across the city.
And we're looking forward to seeing more people making the trip.
We're glad to see the back of the roadworks
For almost 10 years, Wyndham Street has had to put up with road closures, pedestrian detours, road cones and construction.
We're bloody glad that's over.
The city centre is open again, and we're looking forward to people coming back, exploring the area and discovering places like Ding Dong Lounge that they might not have known were here.

Auckland City Rail Link: Come Back Into the City
One of the biggest benefits of the CRL is making Auckland city centre easier to get to.
More people will be within easy reach of the city centre by public transport, making it simpler to get into town for restaurants, shops, theatres, entertainment and everything else happening here.
And if you've never been to Ding Dong Lounge, this is a good time to find us.
Ding Dong Lounge is Auckland's dedicated rock bar and live music venue, with the main bar downstairs and Dead Witch upstairs, our 110-cap live entertainment room.
Downstairs you'll find rock and alternative music, DJs, drinks, food and late nights. Upstairs at Dead Witch, we host local artists, touring bands, comedy, jam nights and other live events.
Whether you're coming in for a gig, meeting friends for a drink, checking out a band or just looking for somewhere different to spend the night, we're right in the middle of the city.
We're 3 minutes from Te Waihorotiu Station and 6 minutes from Waitematā Station.
If you're driving, Wilson Parking at 5 Durham Lane is directly behind the venue and open 24 hours. It's about a 2-minute walk from the main entrance of the car park to Ding Dong Lounge.
If you're drinking, leave the car at home and use public transport or another safe way to get home.
We love Auckland city
We've always loved Auckland city. It's one of the things we love about working here.
There's a huge range of places to eat, drink, shop and listen to music, and there's always something happening somewhere.
The CRL makes it easier to move around the city centre once you're here too.
You could spend the afternoon browsing records at Real Groovy, grab some dinner nearby, head to Ding Dong Lounge to catch a band, then take the train from Te Waihorotiu to Karanga-a-Hape and catch another band at Whammy.
Or do it the other way around. Start the night around K Road, check out Flying Nun or St Kevin's Arcade, catch a band at Whammy and then head down to Ding Dong for another one.
That's what we're excited about.
It's not just about making it easier to get into Auckland. It's about making it easier to experience more of the city once you're here.
