The Ding Dong Lounge Ink Battle is happening Saturday 17 October, with tattooed competitors going head-to-head across five tattoo categories, plus Most Regrettable Tattoo.
Every tattoo entered is automatically in the running for Best Overall, with the winner taking home a $500 voucher to spend at Sunset Tattoo on Karangahape Road.
Sunset Tattoo is also putting up $100 vouchers for every category winner, plus a Ding Dong Lounge dining voucher.

Best Traditional
Classic tattooing with bold lines, strong colours and timeless designs. Think traditional American-style tattooing, from anchors and roses to eagles, daggers and hearts.
Best Japanese
Japanese-inspired tattooing featuring bold linework, strong composition and traditional imagery such as dragons, koi, tigers, waves, flowers and other Japanese motifs.
Best Blackwork
Tattoos that make bold use of black ink, from heavy black fills and graphic designs to intricate patterns and striking high-contrast work.
Best Fine Line / Black & Grey
Delicate fine line work, detailed black and grey shading, realistic pieces and tattoos where precision, detail and subtlety are key.
Most Regrettable Tattoo
The tattoo you wish you could take back. Bad ideas, questionable choices, unfortunate names, regrettable trends or just a tattoo that has aged spectacularly badly. The more regrettable, the better.
Best Overall
The standout tattoo of the night, regardless of style.
Every tattoo entered into one of the five categories is automatically considered for Best Overall. You don't need to enter separately.

How to Enter
Entry is $5 per tattoo.
Complete the form below, select the category you're entering, upload a clear photo of your tattoo and pay the $5 entry fee.
You can enter more than one tattoo. Each tattoo requires a separate $5 entry.
Every entrant receives four tickets to the Ink Battle, so you can bring yourself and three friends.
If you've already entered the Most Regrettable Tattoo competition in the bar, you do not need to enter again. We have your entry and will be in touch.
On the Night
You must be at Ding Dong Lounge on Saturday 17 October to compete.
Entrants must be prepared to show their tattoo to the judges and the crowd.
Our judges will include Leo Olmos, aka Lost Tengu, from Sunset Tattoo, alongside another judge from the Sunset Tattoo team.
